As people, it can sometimes be easy to lead patterned lives making it more difficult to envision and implement a life outside of what is familiar, known, and accepted. One of the most difficult aspects of life is the perception of a lack of options and challenges with seeing a multitude of perspectives. It can be easy to be so engaged patterned ways of being that one can not see past a narrow scope.
One of the potential benefits of psychotherapy is that individuals have the opportunity to explore and envision a wider range of options to address specific concerns. Folks have the chance to better understand themselves, notice patterns in action, and begin to take steps toward choosing alternative paths that better align with desired life processes and outcomes. Fostering awareness of life and relationship patterns can be a critical first step in addressing certain types of concerns and then working toward undoing and re-doing life and relationship patterns.
